In the footsteps of D.H. Lawrence
When in the winter of 1921 D.H. Lawrence decided to embark on a journey to discover Sardinia, he certainly would not have imagined the cultural impact of that adventure recounted in black and white in Sea and Sardinia.
Despite the brevity of the tour, the English writer was able to convey a poetic image of the island and its people, recognizable even today.
A century later, photographer Daniele Marzeddu followed in the writer’s footsteps with the intention of building cultural bridges between Sicily, Sardinia and other lands overseas, investigating whether any memory of that journey has remained.
Sound visions by Michele Bertoni, composer.
Foreword by Simon Hill, president of the Royal Photographic Society of GB.
